The publication Memories Returned. Jewish Property at the Museum of Decorative Arts, Prague is a result of the original research of the Documentation Centre in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. In close conjunction with the Museum, the staff of the Documentation Centre have managed to identify and locate several hundred objects that originally belonged to Jewish victims of the Nazi persecution in the Czech lands.
Based on transport numbers assigned to the owners of the objects when they were deported, it was possible to identify some of the original owners and learn more about their lives. The activities of Treuhandstelle in Prague – which was responsible for the storage and administration of stolen property during the war – are described in an extensive study. The publication also includes information on the places where the looted objects were stored.
The book is published in Czech, the introductory study is translated to English.
